Reverse Talk Review
Reverse Talk is an application software download free Android, which allows users to record a piece of sound and play it backwards. The app also provides a reverse text function, allowing users to input words into the app and have them turned into their equivalent in reversed pronunciation.
Reversing speech is a common practice for people who want to improve their own pronunciation and literacy skills. It is widely believed that the reversing process helps to train the brain to comprehend sounds and letters in their original form, and that it can also be used as a tool to increase memory retention. While the reversing process can have some positive effects on these issues, it has also been shown to have negative psychological consequences.
A popular pseudoscientific topic that gained traction after being introduced by David John Oates on Art Bell's Coast to Coast AM radio program, reverse speech is the theory that during spoken language production human speakers subconsciously produce hidden messages that provide insights into their innermost thoughts. Proponents of this idea claim that the information in reverse speech can be used to detect if someone is lying, as well as reveal information that they have intentionally left out of their forward statements.
However, the scientific community considers these claims to be unsubstantiated and warns against using this theory in activities like criminology or business negotiations. The reason for this is that while reversed words may sound meaningful, it is a known phenomenon called pareidolia that causes the mind to see meaningful strings of sounds in random static or purposeless noises. This is why two different people hearing the same reversed sound can come up with very different interpretations of it.
